A New Machine for a New Sewing Adventure
As with many, I suppose, this past New Year's Day brought with it uncountable people progressing plans for 2019. I was no different; a close friend and I committed to improving our sewing skills, with a special endeavour to create the vintage wardrobe of our dreams. To this end I made arrangements with a local fabric store to have my machine serviced so that I would be fully prepared to tackle my resolution. Unfortunately three weeks ago, on the morning I was meant to bring it in, disaster struck. I retrieved my machine from the cupboard only to find that my cats had used it as a toilet. To say i was devastated is a severe understatement. It was a Singer Talent, and I adored it. Sadly, it was not in a fit state, not to mention harbouring a horrific odour. So, it was on to looking for a new machine, eventually found in a Necchi K series. Whilst it has improvements to my old one (1 step buttonhole amongst them) it also lacks a few of the features I preferred in my Singer. H...
