A New Machine for a New Sewing Adventure

As with many, I suppose, this past New Year's Day brought with it uncountable people progressing plans for 2019. I was no different; a close friend and I committed to improving our sewing skills, with a special endeavour to create the vintage wardrobe of our dreams. To this end I made arrangements with a local fabric store to have my machine serviced so that I would be fully prepared to tackle my resolution.

Unfortunately three weeks ago, on the morning I was meant to bring it in, disaster struck. I retrieved my machine from the cupboard only to find that my cats had used it as a toilet. To say i was devastated is a severe understatement. It was a Singer Talent, and I adored it. Sadly, it was not in a fit state, not to mention harbouring a horrific odour.

So, it was on to looking for a new machine, eventually found in a Necchi K series. Whilst it has improvements to my old one (1 step buttonhole amongst them) it also lacks a few of the features I preferred in my Singer. However, I chalk it up to being a part of the learning process, and, in some cases, relearning lessons. Which lessons, for one not using cheap thread. It took me tweezering out a bunch of fluff behind the bobbin case to remember that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So now I wait for my delivery of thread and pins (I used to have a number of them, but no clue yo to where they wandered), watching the Great British Sewing Bee, and musing on finishing my first finished garment. On to the next lesson...๐Ÿงต
